Fire & Flux is a ceramics conference in Rochester, New York bringing ceramic artists, potters, educators, and students together for two days of demonstrations, workshops, lectures, exhibitions and community events.
Featuring renowned ceramic artists working in wheel throwing, handbuilding and sculpture, Fire & Flux offers opportunities to learn new techniques, discover tools and materials, explore the Rochester arts community and connect with fellow ceramic artists.

Social Engagement & Pop-up Cup Sales
Join us each evening back at the conference center for cocktails, DJ, social engagement and dozens of hand-picked ceramic artists who will be selling their works at our pop-up cup sale. Oh, and all of our demonstrating artists will also be present.

Throughout the City of Rochester there will be pop-up shows at art galleries, colleges & universities, and local coffee houses & retail shops.
Detailed maps and points of interest will be provided to tour participating areas.
Complimentary shuttle transportation from the convention space to key locations will be available on both days from 3pm - 9pm

What is Fire & Flux about?
After decades of going to ceramic conferences, we saw a need for something a little different... a bit more personality and personal engagement. Fire & Flux is a two-day ceramics conference with three core points of focus: Clay, Community, and Connection.
- The clay aspect is about hosting amazing demonstrations by incredible and renowned artists in wheel, hand and sculpture. Each day we will also feature a variety of relevant and engaging break-out sessions and lectures. From the ceramic artist just starting out to the clay addicts decades in, there will truly be something for everyone.
- When we say community, we mean the clay community at large. The ceramics conference will host an exhibitors hall with non-profits and an incredible selection of retail and manufacturers offering everything from tools to glazes to equipment. We will also be hosting gallery shows, pop-up galleries, and studio tours throughout the Rochester, NY community neighborhoods.
- Connection... a word we feel has been missing from clay conferences for many years. Each evening at the convention space we will be hosting a cocktail event with a DJ, artist meet & greet, and pop-up cup sales. THIS is where we truly connect. Where 1000 artists come together to celebrate creativity, passion and our love of mud.
